Our Projects
From free eye screening to school health initiatives and community outreach, every project reflects our commitment to accessible, quality eye care for all.
Our Projects
UMUODU, AWAKA. OWERRI, IMO STATE
Our maiden project in Umuodu, Awaka in Owerri town, Imo state
The outreach event had 220 beneficiaries in attendance. The elderly both men and women were
more in number. Most of them needed reading glasses but could not afford to go for an eye check-
up due to various reasons such as cost of hospital registration, transportation, consultation and
glasses. Some have had their glasses for over 10 years and the frames tied with rope. In addition,
40% of our beneficiaries have glaucoma or cataract.
OUR INTERVENTION: We did free eye screening and were educated and made aware that they have
such eye problems. Furthermore, we provided free reading glasses, eye drops, paracetamol and
other medications. Some of the beneficiaries were referred to our partner clinic for further eye
examination.
OWERRI GIRLS’ SECONDARY SCHOOL. OWERRI, IMO STATE
Teachers of Owerri Girls’ Secondary School were the beneficiaries of this project. With very poor
salary, most of them have been struggling with different eye issues ranging from shortsightedness,
cataract, glaucoma and itchy eyes.
GOKHANA LGA, OGONI LAND, RIVERS STATE (2022)
The host community gave us a school for the outreach. It was a two day event as over 300 people
attended. This project had babies, young and old in attendance. There were many males and
females with severe eye issues and unfortunately there was and there is still no eye clinic within
reach.
The nearest eye clinic is in Port Harcourt town and factors including cost of transportation, and lack
of funds make it almost impossible to receive quality eye care.
BAUCHI PROJECTS
CareConnect Foundation assisted a widow and her two grand children in Bauchi, Northern Nigeria, with a livable accommodation.
This was achieved with the support of well meaning friends of the Foundation.
